History of Mountain Home Rentals of Georgia
in Big Canoe
Mountain Home Rentals of Georgia has been a cornerstone in the Big Canoe community since its founding in 1996 by Tammy and Ken Owens. After successfully managing the business for five years, the Owens passed the torch to Barry Cooper in 2001, who then ran the company until 2009. During this period, David Sharp moved to Big Canoe in 2007 and founded his own vacation rental management company, Relax in the Mountains of Georgia. In 2009, David expanded his operations by acquiring Mountain Home Rentals of Georgia from Barry Cooper, continuing to build on its legacy until 2021. In mid-2021, Deborah Torrance and Wynn Jones, through their company Ananda Enterprises, LLC, took over Mountain Home Rentals of Georgia from David Sharp. With over two decades of experience in running their own businesses and managing personal vacation properties, Deborah and Wynn brought a fresh perspective and a commitment to excellence. Under their leadership, the company nearly doubled its inventory within the first two years, focusing on enhancing both aesthetics and guest experiences to deliver exceptional returns for homeowners.
Today, Mountain Home Rentals of Georgia enters a new chapter as it joins forces with Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals. This acquisition marks an exciting evolution for the company, combining the rich history and deep roots in Big Canoe with the extensive resources and expertise of Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals.
