The Big Canoe location was very good for the family to enjoy. The house worked very well for 6 adults and 3 children. There was plenty to do and enjoy in the area. The house needed a much more thorough cleaning especially the downstairs area and the outside deck. Spiders and there webs were quite prevalent and I realize it is in the woods but the webs in the lamps, corners, and light fixtures didn't get there in a few weeks! Mountain Home rentals were very good to work with and I would use them again.

Our company had our annual leadership planning meeting at this house, and it was perfect for a business meeting. Wish that Big Canoe had more restaurants open on Mondays or Tuesdays in the evening but that was really the only downside. It was perfect. And MHRG was great to work with and communicated throughout our stay.

Great location and guest services. Place was covered in Cobb webs inside as well as spiderwebs/bugs. When we arrived, we nearly walked through at least 6. We also didn’t get to enjoy outside much; all the decking and patio out back were covered in mildew and webs/ bugs. Outside of this, we had a great stay and are so grateful we found something so close to wedding venue!

Our group of 9 adults enjoyed our stay. We liked being close to the North Gate, with easy in and out. We enjoyed the trails that were easily accessed near the house. The antiques that decorate the home are lovely. One of the neighbors pointed out some baby bears hanging out up in the tall trees! I recommend the Clubhouse restaurant. It was a beautiful view of the lake as we sat out on the covered porch, and the food was very good.

This was the perfect place for our family to spread out considering there were multiple age groups. We enjoyed the home and Big Canoe lake in general. There really was something for everyone.

Great location for us to attend wedding at The Lodge at Old Mill. Everything we needed for extended family ages 24-83. Quick communication with hosts. Property just as pictured.

This beautiful house was extremely clean, with a beautiful location. We were down for my youngest son’s national race at the Altanta Motorsports Park just 17-20 minutes away. Highly recommend this location.

There’s nothing like kicking off a new year with a friends gathering to plan our upcoming year. When I saw online the downstairs conference table I knew this vacation rental was perfect for the six of us ladies. We called the gathering our Mentoring Capstone to discuss the previous year and plan for the next. The rental was beautifully updated and spacious enough for each of us to have our privacy. We have already recommended the rental to others so they, too, can enjoy this mountain home.

We had an unforgettable experience this trip! The house was big enough for everyone. Even on a rainy day when we laid low, we all had our own space and didn't get bored and feel on top of each other! The scenery was beautiful, the house was clean, and even though we didn't use the amenities we saw everything the development had to offer and we are going to look into taking another trip in a warmer season to explore the area again!

It’s definitely a check off my bucket list. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing. The scenery was breathtaking. The house was comfortably satisfying. Enough room for every guest and even visitors. The stores were conveniently close, especially Walmart. The beds were great. The kids enjoyed the swimming pool and other amenities. Thank you for a wonderful family getaway in the mountains. I will most definitely be back.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the McDowell property! We were looking for a reasonably price place that was an hour drive away and could comfortably accommodate 10 people and we found it. The house felt like a home away from home. It was very clean, nicely decorated and well stocked with everything that we needed from towels, extra linen, kitchen utensils, dishes and pots/pans for cooking. We spent time in the large family room downstairs watching movies and a few hours on the screened porch reminiscing about childhood memories. Big Canoe has a great fitness facility, lakes, swimming pools and wildlife (we saw several deer). We grilled on the gas grill and created great new memories for our family. My family really wanted to rent a pontoon but we waited too late to make our reservation. Be sure to book in advance if you are visiting during the summer weekends as reservations fill quickly. Lynn honored our last minute request for a late checkout since there was not a rental on the day we left. My family was so grateful as it allowed us time to have breakfast together before checkout. Booking the McDowell property and check-in was so easy. Lynn was very responsive and answered all of my questions. We loved everything about our experience and definitely would return to this property.

Exceptional location and great, spacious house with tons of sleeping options. The house is located right next to the hiking trails, pools, beach volleyball, canoeing, and fitness facility. Tons of nearby activities to do if you want to be active. The house is also great for a cozy day inside. There is a beautiful reading room as well as a large deck that looks out into the woods. The two tv rooms are comfortable and great for a long day inside watching movies. I am definitely coming back!

We had a wonderful weekend when we stayed here at the McDowell Hideaway! The house was tucked away in a beautiful area with easy access to a lot of awesome activities. The location was great - minutes away from walking trails, the lake, basketball courts, pools, and much more! The home is so open and spacious, and it really does feel like a home. There is plenty of room and everything you need is right there in the house! I would strongly recommend staying here if you are looking for a nice private, relaxing, and fun getaway! We will definitely be returning and staying here again in the future!

I took my daughters to the McDowell home and we had a blast! It is quiet and private yet close to many fun activities! It's cozy feel felt like we were in another world and the perfect way to enjoy some relaxation and quality family time! My experience in the McDowell Hideaway house was wonderful. The house has recently been renovated and has all the amenities needed for enjoyment and comfort. The aesthetic and atmosphere of the decorations truly make the house feel like a home-away-from-home. The house is incredibly spacious and has many nice touches like a Wii and a Nintendo (great for kids...and adults!) The location is terrific too - the nearby nature trail and quick drive to the lake and to the golf course made this house a perfect spot. My only regret was not staying long enough. I am already planning a return visit!
